Don’t let this silence grow louder. We are the only connection our families in Ukraine have. If not for those defending our countries, do it at least for them. Do it for your Ukrainian friends. Do it for the sake of terror free world. Speak up.
Given the latest news from Ukraine, I, with the help of @ucca_il and other activists, took the initiative to organize a peaceful protest called “Silence Kills Ukrainian People.” Each day, silence grows, as the war becomes a less “hot” topic for the press, and social media fails to depict the true, unblurred reality faced by many. This silence is much louder for those in Ukraine, at the frontlines or trying to survive in place. It’s not about us but about them. This is the least we can do, especially considering everything they have done for us. BE THEIR VOICE.
In times like January 2nd, when we repelled the largest air attack, there is silence, terror, and fear. It’s uncomfortable for us to step out of our comfort zone to speak up, but consider how uncomfortable it is for people in Ukraine sleeping in subway stations, bomb shelters, and bathtubs. We are building our future, and each day presents a choice: to share information about Ukraine or not, to speak up for prisoners of war or not, to address the issue of illegally deported Ukrainian kids to russia or not.
Don’t let this silence grow louder. We are the only connection our families in Ukraine have. If not for those defending our countries, do it at least for them. Do it for your Ukrainian friends. Do it for the sake of terror free world. Speak up.
